I was very eager to get back in to the air and leave Jask so I left later that afternoon. Once I had loaded the flight simulator FSX and got back to my aircraft the bad weather I landed in had cleared, leaving only a few lingering clouds. I took off quickly with only half tanks of fuel as this trip was to be a relatively short hop east along the southern Iranian coastline.
With sand dunes to the the north and sea to the south it didn’t take long for the sun to drop in the sky and create pink capped hills across the desert floor. The sky darkened to a deep purple and the skies became increasingly quiet with no aircraft on the radio or signs of roads below.
I expected there to be some light from the surrounding area of the airport but the only light I could see from the ground were that of the 2 runways. Touching down on Runway 9L I was quick to find my parking bay and stop for the night.
The layout of Konarak airfield certainly looked like a military airbase from the air which was confirmed by wikipedia once I landed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konarak,_Iran
There was not a lot of content online for Konarak, Iran, although I was able to find some interesting music:
