Flying the length of the river Nile is a great way to appreciate simply how huge this river is. Today I was only flying some of its length but the river showed no signs of weakening all the way to Luxor. The river provides the life blood to allow populations to sustain major cities and civilizations. Climbing higher in my aircraft to 12,000ft I could see the deserts of Africa stretching for hundreds of miles but it was the slither of greenery provided by the Nile which guided my path.
Many travellers take this same route by boat. I can imagine a cruise on the Nile would be fascinating, fun, and relaxing. One of my good friends recently took a holiday to cruise the Nile and came back with a stunning collection of photos.
Luxor is nowhere near the size of Cairo but does hold some rather special destinations.
