I was rather shocked at the noticeable difference in appearances in Algiers when compared to the well kept tourist destinations of southern France and Spain. Of course I am only seeing the cities through the videos on YouTube and the images on Google Earth but I have to admit that Algiers is not a place that I would wish to spend a lot of time in first hand.
After my first virtual taste of Africa it was time to return north once again. My African adventures will certainly be worth waiting for. I flew north over the sea the weather was calm with no clouds to be seen. Leaving the airport under a slight layer of fog probably caused by the heat in the morning, the sea seemed to stretch on forever. I wonder what later flights across the Atlantic will feel like. A small gathering of clouds on the horizon was all that hinted of land.
Once arriving at the island, the mountains along the north coast invited me for a sightseeing detour. Finding settlements in the high mountains such as “Pollenca” were a surprise. I must have taken some time flying around the island as I landed in fading sunlight with the runway lights guiding me in from the sea again.
Being that close to the popular clubbing Mecca Ibiza, I found some “Dance Classics” to listen to. I’m probably too old to visit for a real holiday.
