Leaving Sion was almost as much fun as arriving. Having to take off to the East meant a tight 180 degree turn within the valley avoiding the steep mountains on either side. I then followed the river Rhone along the valley eventually turning north towards Lake Geneva.
Once I saw the expanse of water I kept sight of the shore out of my left window until I reached the opposite end of the lake and the city of Geneva. The sun was high in the sky and gently sparkled off the water. I dread to think how cold that water must be.

Leaving Switzerland I continued my adventure over familiar territory as I flew over France for the second time. The miles passed well below me for what seemed like hours and hours as I climbed to over 10,000 feet before reaching the north coast of Spain. Bilboa is a place I had never heard of before and considered this to be a stepping stone on the way to Lisbon. Bilboa is a great up and coming city with the Guggenheim museum being the flag ship of the renovations.
